2015 SIMULIA India Regional User Meeting

The 11th annual SIMULIA India Regional User Meeting was held on October 14, 2015 at The Ritz Carlton, Bengaluru. There were 470 attendees from 102 companies, making it the largest Regional User Meeting in India thus far. At the event we saw the participation of 9 partners, 5 sponsors and 20 technical presentations from customers.

The keynote presentation this year was by Manivannan GB, GM, Principal Technology officer, Head of Technology solution & Innovation Center of Larsen & Tubro Ltd. His presentation on the topic "Emerging Trends in Product Engineering & Simulation" gave a high level view of the trends and their relative importance versus speed of acceptance. Manivannan was an insightful speaker and we were glad to have him as the keynote.

Customer papers have always been the mainstay of the event and attract a large audience. We had 20 customer presentations in 4 parallel tracks with the largest representation from T&M Industry. We would like to thank all the SIMULIA users for making the effort in presenting at the event and we look forward to an even greater participation next year.

This year SIMULIA’s general lectures were on different topics ranging from corporate overview to product update. We also had talks about the SIMULIA’s latest in products (SIMPACK & 3DEXPERIENCE) and technology (Additive Manufacturing).

We had started the 3DEXPERIENCE Playground at the RUM last year and as a result of the good response we received, we had decided to continue the same this year. This was an opportunity for the attendees to come and learn in a few minutes what SIMULIA apps are on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This year too, the response was fantastic with enthusiastic users visiting the playground throughout afternoon. This year, the EXPERIENCE kiosk showcased the Living Heart Project and Car Crash Model on the zspace tab. This was well received and a lot of attendees liked seeing the 3D representation of these simulations.

The entertainment by BEATGURUS brought all of us together through a drum jam session using Djembe (West African Hand Drum). BEATGURUS created high energy and gave a perfect end to the event. We would like to thank our sponsors – Stratasys Ltd, CST Software, Simpleware, EDS Technologies and ProSIM R&D who contributed generously and made the event a grand success.
