During this year’s SCC, we were proud to have 26 poster submissions for our Academic Poster Showcase! With our largest Academic presence ever at an SCC, and a true testament to SIMULIA being a global presence, the posters came from many different countries, including Australia, Japan, China, Mexico, Belgium, France, UK, Canada, USA, and of course, Germany! Poster topics covered a variety of research and teaching endeavors and represented many important industries that we support with our products.
SCC attendees were encouraged to vote for their favorite poster throughout the duration of the conference. In the end, it came down to a tight race between 4 submissions and SIMULIA was excited to congratulate Dr. Zhongkui Wang, Department of Robotics from Ritsumeikan University in Japan, as the winner! Dr. Wang received an iPad Air and a wonderful congratulations from all SCC attendees for his submission titled, “FE Modeling of a Flatfoot Deformity for Improving Surgical Planning.”
Coming in at a close second was “Induced Seismicity in an Ultra-Deep South African Gold Mine,” submitted by Moritz Ziegler from the University of Potsdam in Germany. Tied for third place were submissions, “Modelling Contact and Tribology” and “Finite Elements in Engineering Design Projects, Fall 2014,” submitted by Alison McMillan from Glyndwr University in the UK, and Ivi Smid, Penn State University in the USA, respectively.
We are always amazed by the time and dedication that goes into creating these posters and we’d like to thank everyone who submitted a poster in this year’s Showcase! We look forward to seeing more great work in Providence at the 2016 SCC!
