The 2012 SIMULIA Community Conference was held in Providence, RI on May 15-17, 2012. It was a very successful conference with over 220 customer attendees and more than 100 presentations by customers and partners. The conference was highlighted by keynote addresses from Technip and 3M and a presentation by Bernard Charlès entitled “Dassault Systèmes Opens New Horizons with 3D Experience.” We also gave a very impressive demonstration of our current Version 6 capabilities with DesignSight and ExSight. A video of this demo presentation called "SIMULIA V6 R2013: Collaborative Simulation" is posted on the SIMULIA Learning Community in the "SCC 2012 General Lecture Videos" section above.
All industries were well represented covering all SIMULIA products, including CATIA Analysis, Abaqus, Isight, the SIMULIA Execution Engine, and Simulation Lifecycle management (SLM). I have listed the 17 papers classified as Industrial Equipment below. All of these IE papers can be downloaded at the SIMULIA Resource Center at http://www.3ds.com/products/simulia/resource-center/. You can call up these papers by using the search filter boxes to select “Customer Paper” in the “All types” drop down menu box and “Industrial Equipment” in the “All industries” menu box.
Being an old hand with Isight myself, I was especially impressed with the 14 Isight papers that were presented. Nearly all of the Isight sessions were standing room only, which showed that Isight is really starting to gain traction in all industries, not just in its traditionally strong industries of Automotive, Aerospace, and Turbomachinery. You can call up the Isight papers by selecting “Isight & SEE” in the “All products” menu box.
The picture above of a large diesel engine is courtesy of MAN Diesel & Turbo. Note the size of the engine compared to the workers on the lower platform - these engines are BIG! Here are the IE papers:
Thrust Collar Design Optimization using Isight ABB Turbo-Systems AG
Structural Mechanics of Steam Turbines: Facing challenges in FE-postprocessing with STARpost Siemens Energy
