💡 Try That #3 - Ask good questions to attract answers

All visitors to the community are able to post questions via the red question mark icon.

Here are some top tips for getting the answer you are looking for.

Before you ask the question

  • Read the documentation
  • Search this community for similar questions (information on How to search)

Asking your question

  • Use a meaningful, specific title and reference the role or app you are working in (e.g. 3DEXPERIENCE, 3D Dashboard, etc.)
  • Be precise and informative about your problem. This will save you time as, without sufficient detail, your likely replies will be ‘more detail please’!
  • Precision at its best: Provide a minimal example that is just enough to exhibit the undesirable behavior and no more. You will learn a lot while creating it, and others will better understand your question and how to best respond.
  • If you think you have found a problem: Describe what you did, your expect results, and your actual result. Don't try to make guesses about why this result happened.
  • If you have problems reaching a goal along a particular path, ask only about how to reach the goal. Your path might be the wrong one!

Demonstrating your growth mindset

  • Show you are willing to help yourself and that you are trying to gain competence.
  • Ask for pointers, not solutions – remember the aim is that you can become independent!
  • Write so that you can be proud of your post/question.

Our Community experts

  • Experts actually like hard problems and thought-provoking questions.
  • Expertise is abundant, time to answer is not. Ask in a way that helps community experts save their time while maximizing the help you will receive.

Note there is no support for:

  • Programming (user subroutines, scripting)

Didn’t get an answer to your question?

The main reasons for a question being unanswered are:

  • Lack of information.
  • Dumping details into the community (landfill-style).
  • Almost NEVER due to a lack of expertise!
