The Relations command is a handy function that allows you to explore objects in more than 140 relationships that are currently accessible on the platform. It should be noted that the number of relationships that exist is dynamic as new applications are created with their own unique relationships to existing objects on the platform.
The Relations command can be found in the Tools Bar of numerous applications on the platform. Simply select an object in the app and launch the command.
The command can also be accessed from 3DSearch results giving the user greater flexibility in searches This is due to the fact that the command allows you to move your focus from one object to another and then repeat the process of looking for additional relationships.
Now let’s take a look at 2 different ways we can use the command in our day to day activities. In this first video we will launch the command directly from an existing application and explore an existing product in the system...
Working with the Relations command directly from an existing application
One thing that is very important to note in this example is the fact that I do not use the command with “All Relations” active in the relations set. As I mentioned at the beginning there are 140+ relations that the platform manages. Subsequently you can improve the performance of this command by using relation sets that focus on the subset of links that most interest you.In the next video we will look at how we can work with the Relations command by making it persistent on the dashboard and enhance our ability to quickly reuse it.
Working with the Relations command pinned to the 3DDashboard
As you can see, this second approach offers both a persistent way to work with the current graph you have created as well as launch apps from the related objects directly in your other tabs. This means you immediately have the context of other apps you may find useful once you have the object loaded into session.
