Libraries on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform allow you to organize assets into a structure much as you can do with the Bookmark Editor, but the similarities end there. Libraries offer the additional ability to associate class attributes to data that is organized under each specific classification. Parent classes inherit these attributes such that you can share attributes in the library across different subclass structures, and have unique attributes on a specific leaf class. In the example below, we share the attribute Material across all hardware subclasses, but have unique attributes for each subclass.
Once assigned, class attributes are used in Searches, 6WTags, etc. In the R2021xGA release of 3DEXPERIENCE, there are two apps that are required to create libraries:
IP Classification allows for the creation of the library structure (taxonomy) itself, along with class attributes, whereas IP Classify & Reuse allows for the insertion of objects into the defined classes. In the attached video, the concept of classification as well as working with these class attributes is introduced.
