Working with Classification Attributes in 'IP Classification Editor' App

Introduction

Classification Attributes are a major aspect of the classification mechanism available in ENOVIA.

Classification Manager, librarians, can associate sets of Classification Attributes with class hierarchy.
Any IP classified in the hierarchy inherits the class attributes, ensuring consistent product definition and specification.
Then, users can consistently browse or search for content based on the classification attributes. Promoting data reuse with confidence, reducing development time, cost and risk.

Managing Classification Attributes in 'IP Classification Editor' App

In 2023X FD02 release, 'IP Classification Editor' app has been enhanced, allowing Classification Managers to fully create and manage Classification Attributes, directly in the widget, without the need of an Attributes Group.

To support that, a new tab, ‘Classification Attributes’, was introduced, allowing you to:

  • Create Classification Attributes.
  • Edit Classification Attributes.
  • Delete Classification Attributes.
  • Export & Import Classification Attributes.

Create classification attributes:

Using the + icon, available in the Classification Attribute toolbar, you can create a Classification Attribute of any type.

The creation panel consists of three tabs:

  • Basics: Allows you to set the basics information of the attributes, such as Name and Predicate.
  • Values: Allows you to set information about the values such as Default Value, Authorized values and more.
  • Titles: Allows you to provide NLS for the attributes.
The supported languages are: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Chinese.

Edit Classification Attributes.

Using the pencil icon, available in the Classification Attribute toolbar, you can edit the Classification Attributes.

When switching to Edit Mode, you can edit the Default Value, Authorized Values, NLS and NLS ranges.

Then, you can use the commands in the toolbar to save your changes, or to select 'undo edit' to cancel your modifications.

Delete Classification Attributes.

Using the bin icon, available in the Classification Attribute toolbar, you can permanently delete an existing Classification Attribute.

An attribute can be deleted only in case it is not used / associated with any class.

Export & Import Classification Attributes.

By using the gear icon, available in the Classification Attribute toolbar, you can export all classification attributes available in your server, and to import Classification Attributes generated in another server / tenant.

Recommendation:
It is recommended to use the Indexation and Reload Cache after creating, importing or modifying Classification Attributes.
