Introduction:
There are two modes in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to load and display data in the dashboard applications:
- Index Mode: when working in this mode, the application loads the data from Index Services and hence performance is good. However, if a recent changes happened,
the content may not be up to date. - Authoring Mode: when working in this mode, the application loads the data from Database Services, hence performance may not be as expected. However, the exact content is reflected in the application.
Setting the default mode:
To set the default mode, turn on / off the ‘Use Index’ setting in the application preferences:
‘Use Index’ mode is turn on | | Index mode becomes the default mode
‘Use Index’ mode is turn off | | Authoring mode becomes the default mode
Switching between Index and Authoring modes:
When the ‘Use Index’ setting is turn on, the index mode is the default mode. You can then switch manually between index mode and authoring mode using the ‘mode’ icon in the toolbar.
Indicating Index mode is active. | You can click to switch to Authoring mode
Indicating Authoring mode is active. | You can click to switch back to Index mode |
The system automatically enables the authoring mode following an authoring operation. For example, when creating an object. The mode is switched back to index mode automatically after few minutes as defined in the ‘Auto switch from Authoring mode to Index mode’ preference.
When the ‘Use Index’ setting is turn off, the authoring mode is the default and the only mode available . You cannot switch between authoring and index modes. The icon is displayed in the toolbar indicating that you are working in an authoring mode.
