V6R2013x delivers ADR for DesignSync (Semiconductor)

ADR? What's that? Within DesignSync V6R2013x, ADR stands for Automatic Data Replication. And it's the key feature within the DesignSync release that should get all of our customers very excited.

DesignSync is the market leader for design data management (version control and configuration management) within the semiconductor design market. It is feature rich and continues to be improved. We've delivered our "next generation" architecture with our Modules capability that should help designers continue to deliver innovative products with high quality and on plan. We've enhanced capabilities to increase the performance of the system to the point where we are measurably faster that "the fastest" competitive software configuration management tool in a real-life environment for semiconductor designers. But what we've found is that we needed to work on the adminstrative and user experiences. Many customers weren't fully realizing the benefits of all of the investment, particularly when it comes to optimizing performance.

As a first step to a longer-term vision around improving the experience around DesignSync, we've developed and released our Automated Data Replication system. This allows the system to take on the burden of setting up and maintaining the functionality that allows data to be available before the user knows she needs it. Caches and Mirrors are automatically created and updated as needed. This removes a significant task of the administrators who didn't want to do this manually. It's a huge step forward!

Of course, there are a number of other benefits available for the semiconductor community with V6R2013x.

  • DesignSync enhancements to the graphical vault browser
  • DesignSync enhancements to a number of commands for usability benefits
  • Hierarchical Defect Tracking within ENOVIA allows for hierarchical roll-up of issues over design elements and impact analysis reports

There are a number of other customer-driven initiatives that we are working on. Stay tuned on the Semiconductor Connection communityhttps://swym.3ds.com/#community:285/home for news over the coming months. We have some videos available on the ADR and other new features. Hope to see you there!

Best,

Rick
