Introduction
The 3DDrive app allows you to securely store, access, and share files on the cloud from any device. In addition, it enables sharing and seamless collaboration with coworkers, contractors, and customers even if they are not using the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. In this blog, you will learn how to leverage the Share with External feature, to not only share the content with such stakeholders but also get their review feedback through annotations and comments.
Setup
From the Drivers Control Center app, the Administrator can select the check boxes to allow users to share content with external stakeholders and seek feedback through comments. Further, the Administrator can also monitor the details of the shared objects and revoke access if necessary.
How does it work?
Once your Administrator enables external sharing, you can share the objects with the external stakeholders who do not have access to your 3DEXPERIENCE platform. To do this, you can select the folder or file within the 3DDrive app and select the Share option in the toolbar. It opens the Share dialog box that lets you share the file with internal or external stakeholders.
In the Share with External tab, you can select the following check boxes as required.
- Activate External Sharing Link: Generates a link that can be shared with external stakeholders to let them access, download, and review the file.
- Enable Guest Comments: Allows external stakeholders to share their review feedback through comments and also read existing comments.
- Restrict Access to Specific Users: This provides access to specific users through an email invite. You can enter up to 50 email IDs separated by semicolon (;) between each email.
Upon sharing, the external stakeholder receives an email containing a link to the content shared. Upon creating an account, the stakeholder can view the object, perform the measurements and simpler annotations. Further, they can use the Share as Comment option to capture the screenshot of existing annotations in the comment.
Please refer to the following demo video, which explains this complete scenario in detail.
