3D Markup is a widely used app, because as you may all already know, it has powerful tools to execute review of 3D designs or 2D drawings on the web. Without using resource-demanding native apps, it is possible to perform a quick review entirely within your browser. Today, we will take a look at the three most important tips-and-tricks while using the 3D Markup app, which you will certainly find interesting as they can save you huge amounts of time.
1. Quick temporary analysis
Sections and measures play a crucial part in any review analysis of a design at all stages. As we all know, while working on a markup, every section or a measure we create is automatically saved in the slide and ultimately in the markup. However, it is imperative that a situation might arrive when we do not want to save them immediately, but rather perform a temporary analysis by taking a section and/or a measure on some geometries. According to this temporary analysis, we can take an important decision about whether to highlight the problem in the slide or not.
This can be achieved by deactivating the current markup while performing the analysis. A small toggle button enables us to do this quickly. One can simply deactivate the markup and perform the analysis using multiple sections and/or measures. Once the problem identification is finalized, simply activate the markup again to clear the temporary work of sections/measures, and then highlight the problem to save it in the slide. This saves a lot of time users would otherwise spend in deleting the unwanted sections/measures from the slide.
2. Slide formats
While creating numerous slides on similar data, we usually wish we could have the capability to simply create a template for the standard slide with a certain number of predefined annotations to simply reuse while creating any new slide. There is a solution for this:
It is possible to create one or more ‘Formats’ which can be later applied to any slide that allows all of the content inside the format to be directly pasted into your desired slide. This cool feature saves a lot of time to create standard annotations such as denoting that the dimensions are in mm or specifying any common note for all slides or common sections, for example.
3. Magical transition
We come across situations where we are exploring and working on the designs in the 3D Compose app. In this app, we can create the quick annotations to initiate a primary review of the design data. However, it is not possible to save these annotations in the 3D Compose app. In such cases, it is possible to not lose the annotations, sections or measures and instead, quickly transform the same 3D Compose app into 3D Markup along with its content and annotations. This is achieved by simply launching the 3D Markup app from the Compass. In this way, it enables us to carry all the content to 3D Markup app and then save the review comments inside a markup, saving us a lot of time to repeat the process of creating such annotations.
