The Evolving UI: Web Aware Native Applications

In R2019x, the CV5 Connector within the XCD role, introduces a "web-aware" UI for the user. What is web-aware in the context of DS native apps you may ask? Basically, such an application will allow the user to drag&drop content in and out of the application into a widget on the 3DDashboard. A better way to explain this extension to the UI would be through the video below...

Here we can see that the designer can freely drag&drop CAD objects in/out of the native application as well as the related 3DDashboard widget. This extends the paradigm of drag&drop functionality such that a designer can interactively work with the native app and the platform with a further reduction in keyboard input. This will also increase user performance in touch-screen interfaces where typing is still ponderous with virtual keyboards. As you may note in the video, the CV5 spawned session window is used for the scenario, however, the user can also open a 3DDashboard independently of the CV5 session and drag&drop from there as well! DS is monitoring how users will embrace this new ability of the UI and will look for your feedback before extending it too broadly in the system.
