ENOVIA Champions Leading the Way to Digital Transformation

ENOVIA Champions Meeting
I had the pleasure of joining Dassault Systemes’ special ENOVIA Champions Advisory Board Meeting at the end of 2021. It was a unique learning opportunity because the Champions are a global community of people that use and/or support ENOVIA and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform at their companies. It was also nice to see some industry friends at the meeting.
"As our customers seek to digitally transform their companies, we look to the most innovative and influential leaders to partner with us to build a culture of knowledge and know-how that will help us to fundamentally change and improve the way we all do business. Our ENOVIA Champion users are those leaders…the catalysts and enablers of the future. By partnering through the ENOVIA Champions Program, we are building and growing an ecosystem that enlightens, empowers and inspires us all to transform our businesses…together."
-Stéphane Declee, ENOVIA CEO
I was impressed by the group’s Program activities and participation. The awards presented at the event reflect significant community engagement. The participants are active and not only have a great networking opportunity, they are empowered to learn, engage and influence the ENOVIA leadership team to help drive solution strategy to benefit their companies. Individuals who apply to the ENOVIA Champions Program represent a wide variety of Dassault Systemes customers representing virtually every industry worldwide.

I was pleased to see the level of organization and support provided by Dassault Systemes. Its logistics support makes participation in the sessions and other related community activities relatively easy. The involvement by the Dassault Systemes ENOVIA team, including executive participation by ENOVIA CEO, Stéphane Declee and Champions Program leadership by Susan Lenzi, demonstrates that Dassault Systemes values interaction with its users. This program is a good example of a highly, mutually-beneficial vendor–customer relationship.
Focus on Digital Transformation
During this meeting, I had the chance to share some of our research findings with members of this ENOVIA Champions community. One of the topics they are interested in is digital transformation with some special focus on the digital twin. I presented some findings from our Business Sustainability and Transformation Strategies 2021 survey showing that manufacturers are “bouncing forward” from recent business disruption by becoming more agile, improving collaboration, adopting new technologies, and furthering digital transformation initiatives. In fact, our research shows that almost one-half of companies are accelerating their focus on digital transformation in response to the disruption from the COVID pandemic.

Digital Transformation and PLM
Our research shows the need for manufacturers to implement a variety of technologies including cloud solutions, advanced analytics, platforms, and digital twins. PLM and broader product innovation platforms play an important role. We investigated PLM’s role in a number of digital transformation initiatives. We found that companies see the importance of PLM to support digital transformation as a whole, as well as for more specific initiatives. For example, three-quarters of manufacturers recognize that PLM supports the digital twin. One-third say it’s critical. PLM solutions like ENOVIA powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform are more valuable than ever.

Focusing on Engineering
It’s important to recognize that while companies are pursuing strategic initiatives like Digital Transformation or Industry 4.0, they must also continuously improve their operations. To keep things real, I shared some recent research from Tech-Clarity’s Michelle Boucher. Her study shows that engineers spend only about one-half of their time on innovation and design work. About one-third is spent on non-value-added tasks such as searching for information, collecting data for others, incorporating changes from other designers. They also work with outdated information 29% of the time. These are error-prone, wasteful practices that can be automated or eliminated with PLM.

Looking at New Product Development
PLM can do more than improve engineering and design processes. Our recent research, How to Stop Missing Product Development Due Dates, finds that in addition to improving engineering efficiency, 60% of companies see even greater benefits by improving process efficiency. PLM drives better collaboration and project execution, which multiplies the benefits of improving individual engineering and innovation time. The result is faster time to market and more time to innovate leading to higher profitability. The study shows that companies that excel in product development performance have more advanced capabilities supported by PLM.

Final Thoughts
Based on our research, we believe that manufacturers must transform to survive. They must be strategic and adopt new technologies, including:
- The cloud
- Platforms
- Advanced technology
- Digital twins
At the same time, they have to meet current needs to compete:
- Reducing non-value-added time, wasted in Engineering
- Further those benefits with better product development coordination and collaboration
Fortunately, PLM can help companies do all of these simultaneously. PLM is both the collaboration and data platform for Engineering and new product development and the broader backbone of the digital enterprise.
Dassault Systemes ENOVIA customers are poised to take advantage of this, and those that get involved with the ENOVIA Champions Program should get a significant edge through a closer relationship with ENOVIA and 3DEXPERIENCE leadership, and across the extended ENOVIA ecosystem.
Are you a leader using ENOVIA and 3DEXPERIENCE? Are you interested to share, influence and innovate with the extended ENOVIA Community? If yes, I suggest you apply to become a member of the ENOVIA Champions Program. ENOVIA is seeking to build and grow this community of experts to empower and inspire others to transform business….together.
