Context
Collaborative Designer for CATIA V5 connects CATIA V5 to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, enabling secure enterprise-wide sharing of design data.
Using a common product structure, Collaborative Designer for CATIA V5 promotes efficient collaboration across disciplines and design teams.
Leveraging Collaborative Designer for CATIA V5, designers can save data to the platform, access lifecycle management capabilities and search for components. Beyond basic CAD file management, designers can also maintain revision history, manage tasks and changes, access related documents, organize content and communicate with colleagues, all from within the CATIA V5 interface.
Business Challenge
For suppliers working with multiple OEMs who do not have the same CATIA V5 release level, they need to have different release levels on their machine and then select the right release to work for specific OEM.
With previous behavior, this feature was only possible to be achieved by changing manually the Registry every time a new Service pack or Release was installed.
This was leading to less efficiency in productivity and could lead to manual errors.
Description
Now a new UI is available to select interactively the different V5 release levels available on the local machine and compatible with Collaborative design for CATIA V5
In the demonstration below, you have an example of how a supplier can work with two different OEMs on a single platform and how this dedicated feature facilitate his job.
How to
To enable V5 launcher, you need to set the value of registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Dassault Systemes\\xCAD_Connectors\\CATIAV5Launcher\\IsActive to “true”.
This setting will enable CATIA V5 launcher from the 3DCompass, or using your shortcut.
Then you need to set another registry key for Launcher configuration file. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\DassaultSystemes\\xCAD_Connectors\\CATIAV5Launcher\\ConfigPath.
Here you need to set the path of the configuration file that will be generated automatically during the first launch, you do not need to create the file in the file system but you need to set the file name in the registry.
Display CAD version feature:
Since 22x FD01,
- You are now protected from inadvertent creation of part and assembly scenarios where higher and lower versions of CATIA V5 files may come into contact.
- This enhancement creates a warning after the open operation is executed to inform you of any potential versioning that might occur.
- You are now given a chance to abort the operation or open the data in Read-Only mode avoiding any unwanted versioning.
-CASE 1: Behavior when lower CAD version file is opened in Higher CATIA V5 level
- To activate this case, following CATSetting “Show Read-only option for lower file versions” must be selected. The choice will be remembered in consequent CATIA V5 sessions.
-CASE 2: Behavior when higher CAD version file is opened in Lower CATIA V5 level
- To activate this case, following CATSetting “Show error for higher file versions” must be selected. The choice will be remembered in consequent CATIA V5 sessions.
-CASE 3 :Behavior when case 1 and case 2 combine, you have to check both.
