Reviewing MS Office Documents and Exporting Review

Introduction

The 3D Markup app in the Collaborative Industry Innovator (CSV) role allows you to collaboratively review your IP (Physical Product, Requirements, Drawings and more) using a set of dedicated annotation and review commands. Starting from the R2023x FD01 release, you can now also review the MS Office documents in the 3D Markup application. Reviewing the MS Office documents directly in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides you the complete traceability of the review and improves your overall productivity.

Reviewing MS Office Documents

To begin your review of the MS Office documents, you can select the Open Document option in the left panel of the 3D Markup app. This opens the search result and shows all the documents available in the platform. You can then use the powerful 6WTags to filter and open the required MS Office document to review. Alternatively, you can also drop the required MS Office document from the search result into the 3D Markup application to begin your review.

The Markup tab in the toolbar provides a powerful set of review commands to capture your review observations. The Comment option allows you to add your review observation in a form of text. You can add this comment icon at any place in the document and add an associated textual remark in the comment box that appears at the right comment panel. The freehand, rectangle, arrow and circle annotations are useful to enrich your review observations. You can also associate a comment with these set of annotations. Besides this, you can also share the markup with your team and collaborate to review the MS Office document.

Following types of Microsoft Office documents are supported for review in 3D Markup:

.doc, .docx, .docm, .dot, .dotm, .dotx, .rtf, .ppt, .pptx, .pot, .potm, .potx, .pps, .ppsm, .ppsx, .pptm.

Note: This enhancement is supported on cloud environments only.

Exporting the Document Review Markups to PDF

For the users who are part of the review process but do not have access to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, you can now easily share review details by exporting the markup as PDF. Starting from the R2023x FD01 release, the new “Export as PDF” option is provided in the Tools tab of the 3D Markup. As of now, this is only possible for the markup created on a document object. All the review annotations and comments are embedded in the exported PDF document.
