Q&A Asked during the Webinar:

QuestionAnswers from the ENOVIA Team
How is MEI consumed in MBOM?In the ENOVIA Supplier Item Qualification App from “Specification Manager (XSP) role, we support Manufacturing Qualification for Manufacturing item (MBOM) as a context item and Manufacturer Equivalent Item (MEI) as a target item.
Where can we maintain site-specific alternates?

The alternates are created globally in the Engineering definition for all sites. You can then create manufacturing items per site (site is defined as an organization in the platform).

Then the manufacturing engineer can select the relevant alternates for each MBOM using the DELMIA apps.

Is there a solution for Alternate MBOM (Not Alternate Item)? In DELMIA MBOM management Apps (Web or Win), we can either access/consume alternates from engineering definition or manage pure manufacturing alternates in the MBOM.
Is there a solution for defining the MBOM for different inventory organizations in ERP? And the ability to manage MBOMs in different inventory organizations from one EBOM?You can create various MBOMs for a single EBOM.  To make the MBOM specific per organization, you can move it  to that specific organization (using the “Manufacturing responsibility” option in the Engineering Definition).
Would it not be clearer to define the basic "Material" as Core Material, and "Raw Material" as Manufactured Material Stock? We are working on improvements of material/raw material definition.
If the material is selected in the CAD tool will the created material and assigned material be in 3DEXPERIENCE?Yes, this is possible, for example in CATIA V5.
Can you add Effectivity and configuration to MBOM or EBOM?Yes, this is possible using the relevant ENOVIA roles for configuration management (PDM, CFG).
Is there a trigger for supply chain if there are alternates approved?

You can use the following ways to collaborate between teams:

  • Subscription
  • Change Action
  • Route
  • Project Planer
  • Collaborative task

With these tools, you can integrate and notify the relevant team members upon approval/qualification of alternates.

Can Material information defined in CATIA be re-used in the Raw material definition? When you define the raw material, you only attach the core material to it as an attribute. The other attributes are specific to the raw material. Note also that you can create more than one raw material for the same material.
Is it possible to use Product Structure Editor apps instead of Engineering Release apps? There are similar functionalities between these 2 apps, however, the Manufacturing scenarios presented during the webinar are not all supported in the Product Structure editor app.
Alternate will be defined by engineering and manufacturing will use based on engineering bom. How do you create PPR for different alternates?Alternates are available through the EBOM/MBOM structures from User Experience point view and in the data model for ERP integration. No need to manage multiple PPRs. “Replace by Alternate” is also possible in the DELMIA MBOM authoring Apps
Is there any SBOM service bom?Yes, this is supported through the following roles: Service Engineer [SEN], Service Items Engineer [SIE], and Service Process Engineer [SVR]
Can you customize widgets (for example XEN) and add custom attributes?Yes, this is possible.
How to handle alternate material for the same part? You can create various raw materials for the same Engineering Item, using the tab “Made From” in the Engineering Release” app.
Where can we get all future training details about Bill of Process and Process Planning?Check DS Eduspace learning modules or the 3DEXPERIENCE University for more details.
Can we add multiple alternative materials? You can create various raw materials for the same Engineering Item, using the tab “Made From” in the Engineering Release” app.
How could we downstream the model definition automatically from the EBOM to the MBOM? This is planned in future releases.
Can I create Kit parts for a specified product?Yes this is possible in DELMIA roles (such as Manufacturing Items Engineer (MFN).
