New User Interface for the Issue Templates

Introduction

In the Issue Management app, you create an issue using a pre-defined template. During definition, the issue displays pre-defined instructions and members from the template to save time and improve accuracy.

In the R2024x FD01 release, the Issue Templates feature is revamped to make it more intuitive and comprehensive. With this new Issue Templates experience and its collaboration capabilities, you can make your business process more consistent and efficient.

New User Interface for the Issue Templates

The old My Templates page is now replaced with the Manage Templates page. This page shows the list of Issue Templates along with its details such as description, maturity state, and other. You can click on the column header to sort list of issue as required.

From the Manage Templates page, you can create an issue template from scratch or by referring to an existing issue. While creating it, you can define the Title and Description of a template to easily identify it. You can also choose whether you want to automatically assign the content owner to the issue and enable approvals.

During definition, the mandatory attributes are marked with an asterisk (*). For the non-mandatory attributes, you can decide to include/exclude it from the template using the eye ( ) icon. This is useful when you want to keep only relevant attributes in your issue definition and save time. You can add clear instructions in each attribute and assign members to ensure effective and correct issue delegation.

Sharing & Validation of the Issue template

You can use the Share option in the context menu or the toolbar to share templates with relevant stakeholders. The template in the "Personal" maturity state can be used to create issues by the template owner and stakeholders with whom the template is shared.

You can also share the template with stakeholders for their review. Upon validating and finalizing it, you can release it to make it available to all users within the collaborative space.

Notes

  • When you share a template, which is in the "Personal" maturity state, it can be modified by the owner but not by the users with whom you shared it. This is because the template can only be shared with the “Can Read” permission.
  • Once the template is “Released”, it cannot be modified. You can duplicate it to use it as a reference to create a new template.

Please refer to the following demo video which explains how to create a new Issue Template, share it with reviewers, release it upon validation to make it available for other colleagues to use.
