New UI to Manage User Groups On Premise

Since the introduction of User Groups into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in R2019x, only the Cloud offered a UI to create and manage User Groups.

Customers with an on-premise environment have had to use the VPLMPosImport tool to create and manage their User Groups. This command-line tool requires an administrator to run, and is therefore much less convenient.

This inconvenience for on-premise customers is now a thing of the past! A new UI for creating and managing User Groups on premise is now available in R2020x FD08 (and R2021x beginning with FD06).

A new User Groups menu is available in the Collaboration and Approvals application in 3DSpace.

Users with the Leader or Author baseline access roles are able to create User Groups. These User Groups can be used as task assignees in routes. A new User Group is created by selecting on the “+” command in the menu.

A new User Group is created with a mandatory Title and optional Description.

Add members to your new User Group by opening it. You can open the User Group by double-clicking on it or right-mouse click and select Open.

Members can easily be added or removed, and properties and access rights can be modified.

The list of User Groups can also be filtered as “My Groups” or “All Groups.”
