Introduction
Creating and managing tasks in a required sequence to approve or complete certain activity is critical in most industries. The Route Management app in the Collaborative Industry Innovator (CSV) role allows you to do this seamlessly with a complete traceability of context, progress, and status to all the stakeholders.
Managing the Initial Engineering Review Using Route Management
Starting from the R2023x FD03 release, in the Route Management app the Blocking Maturity feature (*) supports more types of objects:
- Engineering Objects: Physical Product, 3D Shape, Drawing, CAD-Specific Data, CAD Family
- Manufacturing Objects: Manufacturing Item, Planning Operation, Planning Work Instruction, Planning System
(*) This feature allows you to block the maturity state promotion of objects added in the route content until the route completion. For more information on Blocking Maturity feature, refer to this blog.
In addition to this, the new Target Maturity field is now provided for the objects added in the content tab. When a route is completed, objects are promoted to the selected Target Maturity state. This provides flexibility to set the target maturity other than the next maturity of the route content. For example, if the current state of the Physical Product is In Work, you can automatically release it upon completion of route by setting its Target Maturity state to Release.
With these enhancements, you can now perform an initial engineering review to validate a product and its associated data before any downstream usage. You can begin with adding the required objects in the route for approval execution and tracking. Depending on the current state, the Blocking Maturity and Target Maturity is automatically set. If required, you can modify the default values.
You can then define the route containing sequential tasks to suit your industrial process. For example, you can create a parallel set of tasks to enable concurrent review of route objects from different stakeholders.
Tasks are assigned to all the review stakeholders who can then concurrently review, share their feedback, and update task status. If the current state of the object is same as blocking maturity state, then maturity state promotion of the objects is blocked during route execution i.e. until the route is complete. Upon the completion of the route, the objects are automatically promoted to the target maturity state.
