As discussed in an earlier post, the most successful companies know that the real benefits from PLM come from expanding the scope of the implementation beyond the R&D department and throughout the entire extended enterprise. As an example, just consider some of the interactions a Product Engineer has with other users in the company.

• Collaborates with a Product Manager to understand and influence market and technical requirements for a product line, and the rules for defining new products
• Plans design work that is needed across all disciplines (Mechanical Designer, EDA Designer, and Software Designer), and manage changes to the Engineering Bill-of-Material
• Collaborates with a Component Manager to maximize the use of standard parts, a Buyer to determine which Suppliers to leverage for the design and/or manufacture of new parts, and with a Supplier Relations Manager to ensure that the chosen Supplier(s) will perform to expectations
• Collaborates with an Environmental Compliance Engineer to make sure the product definition complies with worldwide material substance regulations
• Collaborates with a Manufacturing Engineer to prepare for downstream operations
• Reports status to a Project Manager and helps identify and mitigate project issues
• Works with Quality Assurance personnel to resolve manufacturing and field quality issues

For some of these interactions, the standard ENOVIA Live Collaboration license was enough for users to share and review product information with one another.  However, deeper collaboration with the Product Manager, Project Manager, Environmental Compliance Engineer, and Component Manager always required additional ENOVIA licenses.

For the V6R2013 release, this was greatly simplified, with the introduction of the ENOVIA Experience Pack, which is a single license intended to be combined with ENOVIA Live Collaboration to address all process interactions between users inside of a company.  The attached slides describe this license in more detail.  Please feel free to ask any questions about the new ENOVIA Experience Pack.
