Index and Authoring Modes in the platform apps

Various apps in the platform enable you to visualize the content in an index or authoring mode, as well as switch between these modes. Examples of these apps:

Engineering Release, Bookmark Editor, IP Classification Editor and IP Classify & Reuse

This is possible thanks to the icon that enables you to:

  • Understand the current display mode
  • Switch between the modes

Index mode:

Enables you to quickly search the database, as only content that is already indexed will be displayed, therefore the search is faster. The content displayed may not then be the most up to date content.

Authoring mode:

Enables you to search the database with all existing content, indexed or not. In case the database contains a huge amount of content, then this mode might cause reduction of the performance.
