How to create an Attribute List without a Default Value

When you create a new attribute in the Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center using Attributes Management and give it a list of Authorized Values you must also enter a Default Value from the list of Authorized Values otherwise you’ll get this error message.

If your desired behavior is for the Default Value to be blank or you want to include an empty value in the list of Authorized Values you can enter either a leading or a trailing comma to the list of Authorized Values as shown below.

Your list of Authorized Values will now include an empty value and the Default Value can be left blank.

(A common alternative approach to an empty value is to include a value like ‘default’, ‘none’, ‘empty’ or something similar in the list of Authorized Values that indicates to the user a value needs to be selected.)

Please note that a leading or trailing command will not work if you make your new attribute a Mandatory attribute. An empty value is not allowed for a Mandatory attribute and you will get this error message.
