Grouping Nodes in the Product Structure Explorer and Native apps

In the R2022x GA release, a new functionality is introduced in the Product Structure Explorer Dashboard app that lets you group objects corresponding to the same 6WTags in first-level nodes below the root. With this functionality, you can visualize the Engineering Definition from a different perspective.

You can either select the 6WTag categories, or the tags they contain. In the Product Structure Explorer, the groups are created below the root node. Inside each group, the products that have the corresponding 6WTag value are populated. All the products that do not have any 6WTag value are populated inside the group named as “Other”.

Once grouping is complete, the top of the 6WTags panel shows the active group tags with the "Group" icon as shown in the images. The grouping action does not show any effect in the 3D view inside the 3D Navigate app, however, you can select the “Focus on Group Content” option in the context menu of the group to highlight the group content in the 3D.

Note:

  • This option is only available when the widget is focused or maximized before clicking the 6WTags.
  • This functionality is also available in the Product Finder native app.
