To support compliance with the EU RoHS regulation (since 2006) and also the EU REACH regulation article 33 (since 2008), business sectors have put industry standards in place to facilitate communication of Materials and Substances data within their supply chains. Now the European Commission (EC), under the Waste Framework Directive (WFD 2018), has amended article 9 - the EU REACH - duties to notify their products to the ECHA ("European Chemical Agency").
ECHA has put in place the SCIP ("Substances of Concern In Products") database to comply with the WFD article 9 and has defined additional mandatory data not covered by original EU REACH article 33. This is a very important issue that manufacturer companies have to face because they don’t have the data as requested by the ECHA to feed the SCIP database!
How do we fill the gap between ECHA SCIP requirements and data collected under EU REACH article 33?
