Project Planner role (XPP-OC) is a cloud-based project management tool, with a simple user interface.
It is designed to address collaborative teamwork, and supports the need of smaller teams to work together & track tasks without a heavy top down project management approach.
Until R2022xFD01, you could create only one type of project in Project Planning application, called ‘Team Project’.
Since R2022xFD01, it is possible to create another type of project, called ‘Enterprise Project’.
Enterprise Project allows you to create more complex projects including some additional capabilities:
- Task Decomposition
- Schedule Highlights
- Risk Management
Task Decomposition
When working with ‘Enterprise Project’, you can create sub tasks in ‘Schedule View’ to break down the work into smaller tasks. This of course helps a lot when you manage complex and large projects.
Schedule Highlights
The ‘Schedule Highlights’, allows Project Managers to build a summary view of the project, by adding and highlighting the key Tasks and Milestones which represent best the project schedule.
The ‘Schedule Highlights’ view is hidden by default, and can be displayed in Schedule view either by adding activities to it, or by opening it from the application using the ‘Display Preferences’ menu.
You can add activities to the ‘Schedule Highlights’ using the right mouse menu of the task or milestone. Then you can apply colors to the highlighted tasks and milestones in the ‘Schedule Highlights’.
Risks Management
You can create, manage and track risks associated with the Enterprise Project.
Note: You need to have Project Manager (DPM) or Risk Manager (RSK) role assigned to you to work with risks in Project Planning application.
The following video illustrates the ‘Enterprise Project’ advanced capabilities in more details:
