ENOVIA SCIP Dashboard Supports New WFD Article 9

Europe continues to be the leading region for environmental regulations with the new Green Deal, the Action Plan for Circular Economy (CEAP) and the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS) that will increase pressure on companies for putting safe products into the market.

The Waste Framework Directive (WFD), released in 2018, was part of this preliminary strategy. It has amended one of the main regulations tracking and restricting hazardous substances in products, known as "Substance of Very High Concern" (SVHC) listed in the EU REACH Candidate List for Authorization. Per Article 33 of the EU REACH regulation, manufacturers and importers must disclose if their product contains SVHC over the 0.1% mass per mass of a Firs tarticle to their downstream supply chains and any end-consumer on demand within 45 days. Per the WFD article 9,  companies also have to disclose the same information to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) that has put in place the "Substances of Concern in Products" (SCIP) database to facilitate this duty.

This is a major change for the EU REACH regulation and could become one of the main drivers for adoption of the ENOVIA Materials Compliance Management (MCM) application supporting EU REACH regulation (article 33) and other similar ones including: EU RoHS in the High Tech sector, ELV/RRR in Automotive, Prop 65 in California and more. However, one of the main challenges for manufacturers and importers in regards to the SCIP database requirements, including new data (Product Categories per TARIC codification, Materials and Mixtures Categories), is that they are not in the EU REACH scope. Consequently, companies did not collect this data in the past and it is not available in their Information systems for SCIP database reporting!

To fill this gap and to offer a solution to our existing MCM customers running releases R2016x to R2020x, a SCIP Dashboard has been developed that includes the SCIP notification widget. It is distributed via service partners that can customize it to fit each customer's specific requirements.

Below is a PPT/PDF presentation of this SCIP Dashboard. Feel free to contact Mike Zepp or me to get more information about it!
