Summary
EU REACH Article 33 governs substances in articles/products released to the market, including substances incorporated into a product via the supply chain. If a substance used in a manufacturing process of a product falls under authorization (REACH annex XIV) or restriction (EU REACH annex XVII), and is critical for that process (i.e. not being replaced easily), then the process and the corresponding product is at risk. Tracking substances in manufacturing or any post-production process is key for industries like Aerospace and Defense, which must launch their AD-DSL (Declarable Substance List) and AD-SRT (Substance Reporting Tool) to track substances in product and processes in Q2 2018. Other industries like Automotive also have started to track the restricted chemicals in their production processes with their GLAPS - Global List of Automotive Process Substances.
