Have you ever had to organize a design review? If you have, you know that it can be a challenging process. You have to locate all of the components, build the assembly for participants to review and record any issues. Parts or assemblies can be out-of-date, the review session may be missing critical roles or individuals and it can be difficult to reach consensus on issues and track follow-up actions to ensure completion.
ENOVIA offers two design review roles on the cloud, Design Review Manager and Design Reviewer. Design Review Manager is best to review large, complex assemblies within specific product zones or the entire product. It enables formal management of the complete review process, includes real-time interference checking and enables tracking and assignment of issues for resolution using Engineering Change Actions (CAs). Design Reviewer is required to participate in a design review or initiate reviews on small components where visual interference checking is sufficient and issues can be tracked less formally. Both offer a comprehensive set of tools to analyze and communicate issues including slides, 3D markers, measurements, and
sections to highlight critical issues. For designs authored with CATIA® 3DEXPERIENCE®, reviews can be conducted in real-time because they are managed as a database object fully associated to the design. Having real-time visibility to design changes means issues can be caught sooner.
This short video shows a typical design review sequence made possible with Design Review Manager. A manager runs an interference check between a brake drum and shoe and finds an issue. They then create a review object and add a community of stakeholders to participate in the review. The manager adds clarifying annotations to the review, and creates a slide to highlight the issue. An ECA is established from within the review and assigned to a community member to resolve. How does this match your design reviews?
