Controlled documents play an important role in every kind of organization. Whether it’s an instruction Manual, or a Policy or procedure document, these documents have to adhere to strict company standards. Once created, these documents go through a series of reviews, and at every stage of review, either the attribute values are updated, or the contents appended.
We now have the ability to create the controlled documents directly from MS word integration with the platform. For doing this, we need to have the templates created in the platform ( need a QUC role for that). These templates can be accessed from MS Word, and new documents created using the template. This document can then be stored back into the platform directly from the Word.
I have attached a video that shows this feature in action.
Benefits:
- Enforcing the corporate standards for documents across the departments- The biggest benefit is that users across the globally distributed departments of a company can start leveraging the templates and create controlled documents very easily. These documents will all have the same attributes and same document templates no matter where they are created.
- Ease of use – as you can see in the video, creating controlled documents from MS Word is very convenient and fun!
- Periodic changes that happen to the templates will be made available to users across the organization immediately. This takes away the ambiguity.
