You can easily control where your global search appears on your dashboard, as well as create and access multiple searches through the 3D Search Preferences

How?

Click in the global 3D Search box at the top and select Preferences. Choose  Use Tabs to Show Search to create multiple persistent searches. Use the min max icons to dock the results in the current dashboard.
