In 23xFD01, Change Management have provided a new administrative setting to allow for granularity control of the Configured Structure. The setting is called "Change Required on Instance and Composee in Configured Structure." The attached document describes more about the functionality with examples. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarifications.
I see this as a very robust and useful functionality. I'm sure there are more, but below are two of the common scenarios that I've encountered the most in the field:
- The user wants to build out the configured structure through Adding and Releasing new child item while working under Change Action without having to lock the entire Configured Structure once the Change Action process is Completed.--E.g. Be able to follow up with adding more child item(s) to the Configured Structure without being forced to use the Change Action.
- For multi-level configured structure, user wants to be able to freely adding items to the lowest level configured structure while locking modification of the effectivity recursively upward. Example:
- Level 0
- Level 1 (Lock Effectivity Modification w.r.t. to Level 0)
- Level 2 (Lock Effectivity Modification w.r.t. to Level 1)
- Level 3 (Lock Effectivity Modification w.r.t. to Level 2)
- Item 1 (Lock Effectivity Modification w.r.t. to Level 3)
- Item 2 (Effectivity Modification NOT Locked)
- ....more Item can be added with or without working under Change Action.
- Item 1 (Lock Effectivity Modification w.r.t. to Level 3)
- Level 3 (Lock Effectivity Modification w.r.t. to Level 2)
- Level 2 (Lock Effectivity Modification w.r.t. to Level 1)
- Level 1 (Lock Effectivity Modification w.r.t. to Level 0)
- Level 0
