The introduction of 3DSearch (indexed search) has brought many significant advantages to the overall platform experience. However, with this enhanced capability also came the loss of a key feature that many customers have become accustomed to in the context of their search results: Custom Search Actions.

Fortunately, with the introduction of 17x.FD08 and 18x.FD04, this key feature has returned!

3DSearch has adopted many of the same technical components used by widgets throughout the platform so the process for adding these custom search actions has changed quite a bit relative to legacy techniques used in real time search results.

The attached package contains a simple example, adding several sample actions (open in new window, promote, demote) to the type Part in the system. The examples have not been industrialized and are not meant to be deployed within a production environment. However, they will allow you to rapidly deploy into a test environment and begin exploring some of the potential capabilities of this new feature.
