3DS and "Social Innovation"
In this interview, Samson Khaou, Managing Director, Asia Pacific South of global 3D software applications vendor Dassault Systèmes S.A., shares his company's plans for business growth in Asia and explains its role in driving "social innovation" among customers.
Talk about your business in Asia.
Asia Pacific South with Southeast Asia and Australia-New Zealand is a significant region for Dassault Systèmes, especially in terms of growth. For the last three years, our focus was to grow on our core industries such as automotive, aerospace and industrial equipment, as well as, to penetrate Malaysia Automotive Institute industries such as life sciences and energy.
We are expanding our coverage by building a strong network of business partners to reach the targeted market. At the same time, we are increasing our portfolio of industry solution experiences to address the need of the market. More recently, we have announced globally our intention to acquire a company called Quintiq. Quintiq has a large presence in Malaysia, and we will see it expand Dassault Systèmes' DELMIA brand in this region, adding the new product line of Operations Planning and Optimization to the existing ones of Digital Manufacturing and Manufacturing Operations Management. Quintiq will help provide a new reach into industries such as metals, mining, oil & gas, rail, delivery and freight.
We have also had successes in markets such as Indonesia, where we inked a partnership with PT Regio Aviasi Industri (PT RAI) with the goal of leveraging Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform for its new aircraft project. With the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, stakeholders in PT RAI will have real-time visibility of the aircraft program from design and simulation to production planning and integration.
In Malaysia, we are working with the to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the automotive industry players by capitalising and sharing knowledge through the Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
As part of our global Passion for Innovation program-where we put our technology and knowledge at the service of arts, culture, education, research and development-we have partnered Science Centre Singapore to showcase our Paris 3D and the Living Heart projects, among others. Paris 3D offers an unique and immersive experience of Paris at different moments in its history while the Living Heart is a 3D heart model that offers 3D simulation that captures the electrical and mechanical behaviour of the heart in the most realistic and vivid way.
In Australia, we have also joined the centenary celebration of the first Australian airmail flight in a partnership with the local French authorities. As part of the celebration, Dassault Systèmes presented a movie on the reconstruction of the Bleriot XI monoplane, which was flown by French pilot Maurice Guillaux in 1914 between Sydney and Melbourne, at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
