In the 3DDashboard, we often have a need to share a Dashboard that we have created. Several ways of sharing a Dashboard exist, but there is often confusion when deciding the best approach. Below are some tips to help you decide which sharing method is the most appropriate in your situation.
Share a Copy: You'd like to share your Dashboard with one or more users, but keep any changes that you or your target users make separate. Everyone maintains their own personal copy of the Dashboard at the point in time it is shared.
Share the Source: You'd like to share your Dashboard with one or more users but everyone is viewing and collaborating in your original version. You can control if users have read only access, can change preferences, or have full edit capability (add, remove, modify). Everyone shares access to the same copy of the Dashboard.
Share a Copy
From the main toolbar, select the Dashboard dropdown menu and select Share.
Select either "Share a copy of this dashboard with the following users" or "Share a copy of this dashboard by link with anyone." The first option will send a notification allowing the user(s) to create a copy. The second option allows you to copy and send the link to anyone directly.
Share the Source
From the main toolbar, select the Dashboard dropdown menu and select Share. Select "Manage members of this dashboard."
Select the add user icon and then add one or more Reader, Contributor and/or Owner(s). Reader: Has read-only access to dashboard. Cannot make any changes to widgets or view. Contributor: Has access to change widget preferences only. Owner: Has full access and can add, remove, modify anything on the dashboard. Can also invite other members and control their access.
The settings tab lets you control the platform (tenant) that will apply to all widgets on the Dashboard when it is shared. Otherwise, they can be controlled at the widget level via preferences. You also have the ability to add a background image to the dashboard.
