Troubleshooting Tool: Mac OS: Resetting DraftSight to default settings

It is observed that few of the issues are resolved by resetting DraftSight to its default settings.

The steps to restore DraftSight to its default settings in Mac OS is as below:

  • Close DraftSight.
  • Go to Home/Library/Preferences/DraftSight.
  • Rename the folder that is most recent (x.x.xxx). This folder contains the profile folder with current settings. (If in confusion, you can directly rename the DraftSight folder).
  • Start DraftSight.
  • Since it does not find the profile folder, it creates a new folder with default settings.

Sometimes,  complete un-install of DraftSight and re-install is required in order to resolve the issue. Hence, if Technical support advices you to complete un-install DraftSight on Mac OS and re-install, following steps can be useful.

  • Login as administrator.
  • Close DraftSight.
  • Go to Applications.
  • Right-click on DraftSight and Move to Trash.
In addition to that, you are required to remove files present in ~/Library folder corresponding to DraftSight to completely uninstall DraftSight.
  • Go to Home /Library/Preferences. Delete DraftSight folder.
(Additionally, few applications are available for Mac OS, which completely uninstalls applications from Mac OS.)
  • Re-install DraftSight.

Note: please note that both the above processes will make you lose the customizations, if any done earlier.
