Error 1158 is a generic Windows installation error message generated when any corresponding process or operation could not be completed successfully by the installer. This can be due to corrupted setup files, problem with cached data files, or various other reasons. Nonetheless, this error message may prevent the user from performing the required action or close the application entirely. Use the suggestions mentioned in this blog post to help you troubleshoot the Error 1158 issue.
Prerequisites:
- You will need a data compression utility such as WinZip, WinRAR, or 7-Zip
- You will need administrative rights
- First things first, to eliminate a corrupted distribution of the installer, download a good copy of DraftSight from http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsight/download-draftsight/
- Open your data compression utility software and drag-and-drop the DraftSight installation file into your data compression utility software. This will allow you to extract the contents of the .exe packaged file.
- Create a new folder on your machine and extract the contents of DraftSight.exe into this folder
- Double-click on DraftSight.msi to start the installation.
- Continue installing DraftSight...
- If you run into the error message again, repeat the installation but this time hold the Shift key and right-mouse click on DraftSight.msi to select Run as administrator.
