Troubleshooting tips to resolve Display issues

Recently, we have received many queries wherein on upgrading the DraftSight version, some of the display issues are experienced.One of the reason for this issue could be inappropriate installation process.

Some of the issues those could be graphics card related:

1. Slow performance when zoom, pan, etc.
2. Performance, stability issue
3. Drawing entities not visible
4. Mouse erratic behavior
5. Issue with display of Referenced files

 

Solution:

1. The first and foremost step is to check if you have latest Graphics card driver from graphics card manufacturer' website.

The recommended procedure to install updated graphics card driver is:
- Uninstall the video card driver.
- Reboot the system.
- Reinstall the appropriate video card drivers.

3. If you have updated graphics card driver; however, still you get the result of the test showing the issue related to graphics card, please try re-installing the graphics card driver. 

The recommended procedure is:
1. Download appropriate graphics card driver from graphics card manufacturer's website.
2. Uninstall the existing driver.
3. Reboot the computer.
4. Once restarted, cancel any new found hardware installation. Restart again if prompted.
5. Install the driver downloaded in step.
6. Restart the computer again.


4. It has also been observed that sometimes most of the graphics related issues are resolved by renaming the DraftSight profile folder:

1. Close DraftSight and in Window explorer, key in %Appdata%.
2. Rename the DraftSight folder to say 'DraftSight_old'. It contains the profile folder.
The Profile file is an .xml file which stores your current settings. DraftSight looks for this file each time it starts.
3. Launch DraftSight.
