Troubleshooting Tip: DraftSight V1R2.0: Toolbars and Menus are missing on unsupported foreign language system

Installing DraftSight version V1R2.0 on system with unsupported foreign language, the toolbars and the menus are missing. The UI looks as shown below:

This issue has been reported to our Development team. (SPR# 654207)

The issue would be resolved in future release of DraftSight (not necessarily the immediate next release), subjected to successful QA testing.

If DraftSight V1R2.0 is installed on supported language system (languages supported by DraftSight), this issue is not reproducible.

The workaround to restore the toolbars and menus on unsupported  foreign language system is as follows:

  • In the command window, type Options.
  • Go to File locations > Interface > Customization file. This displays the path of unsupported language folder which does not exist.
  • Double-click on the path and change it by selecting the Application.xml in English folder. Apply. Ok.

Though the image refers to DraftSight on Windows systems, select the application.xml from English folder on Linux and Mac systems, too, in the similar way.

The toolbars will be restored.
However, in order to restore the menus,

  • In the command window, type _Customize.
  • Go to UI Profiles >  Menu Bar.
  • Expand the Menu Explorer.
  • Drag and drop the menus from Menu Explorer to Classic Default Menu Bar. Apply > Ok.

The English default menus will be restored.

The above procedure will restore the default English UI on unsupported foreign language system.
