Similar to other Windows Program like Word, Excel; DraftSight also come with its spelling checker.
You can check spellings of all the texts in current session including;
- Note
- Simple Note
- Notes within attribute values
- Notes within block references and their associated block definitions
- Notes within nested blocks
This command can be accessed by typing command SpellCheck at command line. For next command prompt DraftSight will prompt to select entities. You can select text or specify All to check spelling in entire drawing.
If you select text entities for spell checking; spelling is checked only in entities in the current selection set. Whereas if you enter the All option for select entities, spelling is checked in all text entities in model space and in all sheets. However not in block definitions of unselected block references or in text within dimensions.After specifying entities, Spell Check dialog box will open to show you the results. If a misspelled word is identified, the word is displayed in dialog box. You can accept the suggestion provided by DraftSight or can ignore.
Create and Edit Custom Dictionaries:
For spell checking DraftSight uses 2 types of dictionaries:
1. Main dictionary for the given language
2. Custom dictionaries
Custom dictionary is a list of spelling exceptions that you have indentified. This file is stored with .cus extension. You can use any text editor or word processing program that is able to store ASCII text format to view and edit this file. The default custom dictionary is Sample.cus which is located at location: ‘C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\DraftSight\\Default Files\\Support’
You can find and edit dictionary file location for DraftSight from DraftSight Tools>Options>File location>System>Dictionary location.
In addition to this; you can use command GETACTDICT and SETDICTFNM to check and change the custom and main dictionaries used in DraftSight respectively.
Adding words to spelling dictionaries:
If you want to add specific word to custom dictionary you can use Add button in Spell Check dialog box. The word will be added to the current custom dictionary.
Troubleshooting tip:
Problem:
DraftSight is prompting you below error message while using command SpellCheck;
“Custom dictionary not found”
Cause:
This can happen if custom dictionary file has been deleted or moved accidently from its original location.
Solution:
We know that DraftSight dictionary files are located at; C:\\Program Files\\Dassault Systemes\\DraftSight\\Default Files\\Support’. Hence please check if all dictionary files are kept at correct location .
You can also change the default path for dictionary files from DraftSight Tools>Options.
If you have somehow deleted the dictionary files, try clean reinstallation of DraftSight. This will bring all the installation files including dictionary files to default location.
