In DraftSight 2025, the Lasso selection feature has been added.

The lasso selection method creates an irregularly shaped contour.

To use lasso selection, specify a point in the graphics area and hold down the left mouse button. Then, drag and release the mouse button at the opposite corner of the selection window.

If the user wants to disable lasso selection, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Manage tab and click on Options to open the Options dialog box.
2. Expand User Preferences >  Drafting Options > Entity Selection > Selection Settings.
3. Clear the checkbox for Click and Drag for Lasso selection > Apply > OK.

Now, when you specify any point in the graphics area and drag while holding the left mouse button, it will create a window selection.

To re-enable lasso selection, follow the same process and check the box for Click and Drag for Lasso, then apply it.
