  • Where can I download DraftSight?

Simply go to http://www.DraftSight.com/ or download it directly from our 3DStore!

  • What’s the difference between the free product available for download, the Prosumer Service and DraftSight Premium?

Free Standalone license, activation required. Therefore an internet connection has to be available. The activation needs to be performed immediately after download (or 30 days after the trial period ends), again after 6 months then followed by an annual reactivation. These activations simply help us to keep track of how many people are using DraftSight. Technical Support is not mandatory for free customers. To get help and tips and tricks visit the DraftSight community and collaborate with fellow DraftSight users.

Prosumer The Prosumer Service is a paid-for service recommended for individual users who need assistance installing, activating, configuring, and using DraftSight.  This service offers e-mail and telephone support and is a renewable service available for 3 or 12 months. Intrested? Buy now!

Premium This service provides real solutions for enterprises that need to resolve software compliance issues and that need support with software deployment, customization, and integration. No activation necessary! The service includes:

  1. Telephone, email and remote support
  2. Network licensing
  3. DraftSight API and API updates

2. The DraftSight Community

 3. Community Guidelines

You can provide feedback (comments) and rate blog post to provide feedback on any of the articles. Rating a blog post gives your opinion of the value of the blog post to others within the community. Share your comments and opinions on the blog post by adding comments. Please be aware if you encounter a new issue don’t add it as a comment to an existing blog post. To ensure an accurate response we suggest you write a new iQuestion or report the problem by using Report a Problem (see below).

  •  Using the search tools

EXALEAD – search all communities. Use the search on the top right side in your community window.

FILTER – use filters and tags to optimize your search results in the iQuestion and blog section!

Filters are available on the SwYm homepage, the blog section and the iQuestion section of all communities. The Exalead search includes all SwYm content which then can be filtered by:

Exalead Search commands:

Description

Example

Syntax

Include all words, both words MUST be found in the results

DraftSight and tutorial

AND

Include any words, either of the words should be found in the results

Abaqus or DraftSight

OR

Exclude a term (word)  i.e.“Do not show any results with this term in it.”

DraftSight -tutorial

-

For documents where "activation" and "error" appear next to each other in that order.

“activation error”

“”

Searches for documents containing words starting with "develop": developing, developed, etc. This is useful if you are uncertain of the spelling of a search term in a search request, or if there are minor variants in the way a word is spelt.

develop*

*

TIP: If you look for something short like MAC make sure to add an extra space at the end to just search for the word MAC not all words that include the letters MAC.

If you do not find what you are looking for using the search feature, use the filters to limit the results shown to help you to find what you are looking for. Additional information can be found in the SwYmers' Hall Community.

  • The iQuestions section is the place to go to find information; search questions related to DraftSight or ask an iQuestion if you need assistance. The iQuestion section is mainly run by other users- the technical support team nevertheless has an eye on open issues to make sure all iQuestions will be responded to after a certain time period. For better search results also use the filters on the right hand side of the page. Make sure to validate your iQuestion if the answer provided did help you to solve your issue. This way other community members will benefit from it too!

  • To report a Problem that couldn’t be solved as an iQuestion or following trouble shooting advice from the blog post section, please report the issue directly to the Technical Support Team. To do so go to the iQuestions tab and click at Report a Problem to open a Service Request. Whilst we do read all Problem Reports we are unable to guarantee a response to our non Premium/Prosumer customers.

Please remember:

In problem reports, try to distinguish between facts ("I was at the computer and this happened") and speculation ("I think the problem might be this"). Leave out speculation if you want to, but don't leave out facts! When you report a bug, you are doing so because you want the bug fixed, and the bug may get fixed more quickly if you help by supplying all the information you can. “It’s not working” does not help us to troubleshoot the problem; we need facts in order to help you.

The basics: what you did, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened.

Those are the three basic elements of a bug report. You need to tell us exactly what you did (for example, "Print the attached file with PDF printer"), what you expected to have happen (“PDF file with all the information from the original file”), and what actually happened ("Missing geometry in the resulting PDF file").

By telling us what you tried to do, what you expected to get, and what you actually got, we don't have to guess.

Thank you for helping us to improve the DraftSight experience!
