DraftSight Professional – Transferring License to a different machine
Be it following natural resources management (update/upgrade of hardware/software), or as requirement of a DraftSight Version update (OS support), you might need to transfer your license to another machine.
The process is very simple, and can be performed exclusively by the user, without having to reach for the Technical Support Team.
Note: Although the License Transfer functionality is available, and allows some flexibility if there is the need to use different machines for whatever reason, please note that the intention of the this functionality is not to emulate Floating Licensing, as available in DraftSight Enterprise: The number of License Transfers is currently limited to 100 Transfer operations.
Transferring the Activation
In the machine where DraftSight Professional is currently activated:
- Launch DraftSight
- In the Menu, go to Help, and click the option “Deactivate DraftSight Professional…”
- The SOLIDWORKS Activation Wizard is launched
- Select the method to perform the transfer (Automatically over the internet or via email)
- Click Next, and follow the prompts
Assuming you have already downloaded and installed DraftSight in the other machine, launch the application:
- Go to Menu, Help, and click the option Activate DraftSight Professional
- In the SOLIDWORKS Activation Wizard, Enter your DraftSight Professional Serial Number
- The application will connect to the Activation Server, and retrieve the activation data
- Once the process is completed, click Finish, and Restart DraftSight.
If you lost access to the machine where your DraftSight Professional serial number was activated, therefore being unable to perform the activation transfer, or come across any problem in the process, please contact the Technical Support Team (contact provided in the email you received at the time of the purchase), providing your Serial Number, and a screenshot of any error message you received during the process.
