Ortems HowTo Business
Companies are usually equipped with ERP systems that provides MRP capabilities to generate production and purchase orders based on demand, inventories and currently planned / production / procurements.
These functionalities are limited as:
- They are usually set to generate orders backward, at infinite capacity
- If the company uses several BOM levels, the allocation of orders within the BOM levels are not managed
- Thus, no leveling nor scheduling processes are included in the ERP system
For these reasons, adding a layer is necessary to get realistic planning / scheduling results.
The DELMIA Ortems Synchronized Requirement Planner (SRP) Engine is a feature that generates a production plan and include the inventory / productions allocations within BOM levels.
The Synchronized Pegging mode consists of running the SRP on a pre existing list of production orders, coming from the ERP MRP calculation, to generate the links only.
We can easily identify few values coming from this synchronized pegging capability:
- Reduce overall manufacturing lead-time: only if you know which semi-finished or sub-assembly will supply which finished-product then you can compress the end to end flow
- Avoid shortages and production disruptions by always maintaining predecessor - successor relationship
- Increase traceability and visibility
Many different configurations are possible to set up the DELMIA Ortems SRP engine into a Synchronized Pegging mode. If you are interested in learning more, please send an email to DELMIA.Ortems.CoE-SolutionConsulting@3ds.com.
