Background:
We had a prototype DEMO with a train manufacturer. The Macro production route of a train is:
Carriage body welding -> Painting -> Pre-Assemble ->Final-Assemble -> Train Tuning
The Carriage body welding process lasts 20 days, and there are 4 carriage body welding lines which means 80 carriages capacity per month (20 working days of a month).
Problem:
Normally when we launch the load levelling engine, the result is that 20 carriages are planned at the same time at beginning of the horizon, however, this is impossible in real life as there are only 4 welding lines so only 4 trains can be started at the same time. How to model this in DELMIA Ortems?
Solution:
Adding a virtual arriving line with a capacity of 4 carriages per day. In this way, there are only 4 carriages that are starting each day. Please find attached the video for detailed information.
