Route knowledge is an important factor to take into account when assigning train-driving tasks to train drivers. DQ Fleet & Crew Planner provides support to maintain and update the drivers' route knowledge as well as to check for valid route knowledge of the driver assigned to a train-driving task. This support ensures a valid crew driver plan can be created meeting the necessary safety requirements concerning the route knowledge the drivers possess. Below example shows a warning given when the assigned driver does not possess the required route knowledge.
If the driver in question does posses the required route knowledge, it can be a matter of just updating the route knowledge of the driver. Below video shows in which view route knowledge can be maintained, and how the acquisition date of the segments of which knowledge is acquired can be set.

Once route knowledge has been acquired, its validity can typically be extended by executing activities on the route concerned. By selecting a crew duty or crew activity that has already been executed, the route knowledge of the segments involved can simply be renewed by the context menu item Renew knowledge - Segment as shown in below screenshot.
As a result the renewal date of the segments involved is updated and with that the validity date as well. An example can be seen in the screenshot below for driver Wesley Teague for whom the renewal date of the segments between Commercial Capital and Harbour have been updated to 3-Sep-2019, the date on which he last drove on these segments, and with that the validity of the route knowledge for these segments has been extended as well until 2-Nov-2019.
