TransportAndMobility HowTo Quintiq FleetAndCrewPlanner
Driving trains is one of the core activities planned for train drivers in DQ Fleet & Crew Planner. But typically there are more activities executed by a driver that are needed as well, such as preparing a train set or locomotive to be ready for driving during the day or shutting it down at the end of the day. And sometimes that happens during the day as well, if that leads to more efficient planning than staying with the train set until the driver is relieved by another driver, the handover and takeover.
In DQ Fleet & Crew Planner these activities can be planned as additional time to a driving activity in case they would be executed by the same driver who performed the train driving activity right after or right before. The following video shows you an example of these various additional durations. It also shows how to configure whether a shutdown and start-up should be planned as additional time while the train set is idle at the station or not, leaving the driver idle with the fleet or having handover and takeover additional time in case of a driver switch.
Configuring the duration needed for the various additional time, startup or shutdown, and handover and takeover, can be done in the knowledge tables AdditionalDurationHandover and AdditionalDurationStartUpTrain. Below screenshots show the settings used for the example in the video.
