Business ThoughtWorthSharing Quintiq
During Value Delivery of a DELMIA Quintiq project it’s important that the key users as soon as the solution is ready to be tested, step up to start using the system, test it, and make it their own. Sometimes the solution can be a bit challenging to get started with and the key users will need to go through a learning curve to really understand how the solution works and get the best out of it. If their motivation to learn is not up to that task, e.g. because they are fine with their current solution that they know, it can really slow down the project and impact the mood of everyone involved.
Recently I learned about a trick the project manager of one of our customers used to get his key users started who were just complaining that the solution was difficult to use. He simply asked them to prepare and give a demo of the solution, which really forced them to start learning how it works and how they should use it. After that there were fewer complaints and there was more understanding, and also good feedback on the parts where the solution could really be improved to support them in taking the best decisions.
Of course this was just a first step to get the key users to work in a productive way for the project and towards them accepting and embracing the new solution. Have you seen similar approaches work in your projects as well, or do you have other ideas that can help a project where the key users struggle to start and aren’t directly motivated?
