Introduction
Complementary Information provides a way to store custom data and manage it within the Planning program for display, modification, insertion, or deletion purposes (this is different from FREE fields, which are not displayed in the Planning program).
Possible actions on 'Complementary Information'
Actions on Complementary Information data can be shared in collaborative mode for WOs, Stock Orders and Operations entities (DELMIA Ortems R2024 Refresh2: 3 new collaborative actions to handle ‘Complementary information’ of WO, Stock Order & Operation entities).
Actions on Complementary Information data can be cancelled (UNDO feature) for WOs, Stock Orders and Operations entities (New UNDOable actions added in DELMIA Ortems 2025)
Indeed, prior to DELMIA Ortems R2025 Refresh6, complementary information was only available for “WO” and “Operations” filtering.
It is now possible to filter on Complementary Information character fields for WOs and Stock Orders, Machines, Items and Series.
Example
Example for ‘Items’ entity (same for the other entities).
‘Complementary info.’ tab of ‘E2/W2’ item:
Result after setting a filter on Compl. Info. 2 with the value ‘This is the value for my 2nd Compl. Info.’ and clicking the ‘Update list’ button to test the filter, the result is as follows:
Accessibility to Complementary Information
'Complementary Information' can be manually inserted from the Planning program on demand. It only requires accessing the right entity to enter information.
Each ‘Complementary information’ entry is easily accessible from the ‘Display’ menu by selecting the Gantt chart related to the entity and double-clicking in the left margin on the element to access it.
For example, Complementary Information of a given item can be edited by double-clicking on the item from the left margin of an ‘Item Gantt’ chart.
- Stock Orders Complementary Information can be accessed from a ‘WO Gantt’ chart.
Operation Complementary Information can be accessed from an ‘Op. focus Gantt’ chart or from a Machine Sequence.
Recommendation for easy filtering
As you know, each ‘Complementary Information’ consists of a couple of fields: one designation and one content.
To exploit filters efficiently, it is recommended to store the same type of content in each Complementary Information field for all elements of each entity (avoid storing the Height property in ‘Compl. Info 1’ of ItemA, the Width property in Compl. Info 2’ of ItemA, the Width property in ‘Compl. Info 1’ of ItemB and the Height property in ‘Compl. Info 2’ of ItemB). That way the filter will not mix up apples and oranges.
Filling the related tables using interface flows is helpful for systematically inserting the same Complementary Information records respecting a given organization.
Summary
After expanding the ‘Complementary Information’ filter to include Items, Machines, and Series, we can summarize the ‘Complementary Information’ properties as follows:

| Operations (last created in R2021 Refresh4) | From R2025 Golden | From R2024 Refresh2 | From R2021 Refresh4 | 20 | INFO_OP |
