[DELMIA Ortems] How to... Vary capacity of limited resources over time?

Use case

Customer using limited resources features may want to change the availability of tools over the time, mostly for tool maintenance. In the standard definition of limited resources you cannot vary the capacity over time. This advanced modeling proposal intends to cover this use case.

This video illustrates the proposed modelling

Prerequisite/Modeling

  • Creation of an infinite capacity grouping/machine to plan the maintenance order.
  • Creation of a maintenance routing per tool:
    • It can be created locally in Ortems Technical Data module or automatically when receiving maintenance orders from external systems.
    • For automatic optimization purpose, I modelled a 2 phases routing, first one being very short (1/10000 h) (to trigger right conflict selection) , second modelling the maintenance duration.
  • Criteria management parameterization: (not a mandatory step, other setup can work)
    • (2) Deactivation of « priority to ICM »
    • Very technical comment: (1) the first short operation allows the maintenance order to elect the « maintenance » grouping as « the most urgent conflict »

  • Scheduling criteria parameterization: Hereunder the associated criteria. Please note other set of criteria can also work:

  • Creation of a maintenance order
    • It can be created locally in Ortems (planning or WIP module) or automatically when receiving maintenance orders from external systems. I use a high WO priority to ensure it's quickly positioned by the scheduling engine.

Warning/Disclaimer

-Alternative optimizations may work with 1 single operation but I did not achieve it. Don’t hesitate to comment the post if you succeed!!

-Depending on your current optimization criteria, the criteria I used may not apply.

-Depending on your modeling and integration, you may have to manage locally the Maintenance Orders, with interactive progress declaration (follow up)

-This model worked to cover my current requirement and is a proposal for you to investigate on your own or with DELMIA Ortems delivery team. It’s not a packaged solution delivered and maintained by DELMIA R&D
