ARA releases guide for rail transition to net-zero

Recently, the Australasian Railway Association released its sustainability guide On Track to a Sustainable Future

It explores several different areas of sustainability across the rail industry - from zero emission rolling stock and optimized infrastructure efficiency to diversity and inclusion in the workforce - and provides best practice examples towards sustainability targets.

Highlighting that "Rail freight has 16 times less CO2 emissions than road" it also implores that "Whilst the rail industry provides a sustainable transport mode of choice, it must continue to invest in decarbonisation research and technology developments to maintain this competitive advantage."
